philosophy

ART, SPORT AND SELF DEFENSE COME TOGETHER IN CAPOEIRA.

DEVELOPED DURING THE TIME OF SLAVERY AS A MARTIAL ART, CONVERTED TO A FORM OF DANCE WHEN IT  WAS MADE ILLEGAL IN THE 19TH CENTURY.

IT FINALLY EMERGED FROM ITS OUTLAW STATUS IN 1928 AND EVOLVED INTO A BEAUTIFUL DANCE, ANOTHER WORDLY SPORT AND UNIQUE POWERFUL NATIONAL SYMBOL OF FREEDOM.
